IDEA Sewage Treatment System
The Intermittently Decanted Extended Aeration (IDEA) Activated Sludge System is a SPAN’s approved system and has been widely adopted in Malaysia.
Dual Tank IDEA Process
In the dual tank IDEA treatment process, Demand Aeration Tank (DAT) prevents short-circuiting and maximises nitrification. The aerobic and anoxic periods are optimised by automatic dissolved oxygen control and variable PLC timer controls. Total -N concentrations of 6 mg/l on a 90 percentile basis are achieved. The dual tank process also ensures Sludge Volume Index (SVI’s) is lower than 100 ml/g which provides process stability. The combination of the dual tank process and the gas locked syphon decanter results in a reliable process which can consistently produce low levels of Total-N. Advantages of IDEA System
The Intermittently Decanted Extended Aeration (IDEA) Activated Sludge System is a hybrid between conventional sequencing batch reactor (SBR) and extended aeration (EA) systems. IDEA system has been developed and modified based on the recognized advantages of conventional sequential batch reactor system and extended aeration system. Treated Effluent Result
An IDEA sewage treatment plant was randomly selected for study by an IWK’s Laboratory. Its effluent result demonstrates 100% compliance with regulatory requirements. The sample analytical report shows high and yet consistent effluent quality produced by the IDEA sewage treatment plant.
